Bill, there are several factors come into play: 1) All the panels need to be very close in voltage or it won’t work. You will run into storms and clouds and if you don’t want to run out of power you must have more solar than you need in good weather. The way to figure watts is volts x amps. If they were in parallel, you would get 10 amps to the battery, in series you would only get 5 amps to the battery. That should make it an easy decision except it costs so much more than a PWM.
